Nauja Books

Nauja Books publishes short adventure books as companion texts to a U.S. history curriculum. Our publications are targeted for both the classroom and independent reading. All books are historically accurate within each context or event. Each book contains 90% of the recommended vocabulary for middle school children as well as most of the literary devices taught by language arts teachers. Teacher texts have the vocabulary highlighted and include endnotes to point these out, suggest comprehension questions, or offer grammar lessons. Teacher texts match student texts line for line.  Often, our books are published at multiple reading levels, with annotated teachers' editions and teachers' manuals to enhance the classroom experience.

"The Gift is an amazing book.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read.  Also, I can't believe that almost every-thing is based off of arche-ological finds.  Crazy right!"

BIO

Author_1718_4x4_v05.jpg

Ms. Clarke was a teacher for forty-one years in grades K-12, community college and as a teacher of English in Mexico. Her favorite age level is middle school where she spent her last eleven years in Central Point, Oregon teaching English to students who spoke a language other than English at home.

She received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Syracuse University and her master’s degree in Curriculum Development from Boston University. She also studied at the University of Rennes, France and El Instituto Cultural de Oaxaca, Mexico.

She spent her childhood hours by herself, creating worlds in the twelve acres of woods next to her house. As a teen, she loved going alone to The Field Museum of Natural History and Brookfield Zoo. By being alone, she could stay at an exhibit as long as she wanted, sometimes to observe not only the exhibits but the people looking at them.
